FAQs

1. What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a highly systematic method of powerfully stimulating the body’s vital force to cure illness by giving mostly natural substances in highly agitated and diluted form.  Homeopathy was developed over 200 years ago by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a prominent physician and has gained favor over conventional medicine in much of the world today.

2. Why use homeopathy on pets?

Pets often respond dramatically to homeopathic medicines!  Homeopathy is a popular approach to healing in many parts of the world.  It offers a safe alternative to conventional pharmaceuticals, often curing our pets’ diseases, rather than simply masking symptoms and producing harmful side effects as pharmaceuticals often do.

3. What type of animals do you treat with homeopathy?

All animals may benefit from homeopathic treatment; animals I have treated successfully with homeopathy range from cats, dogs, and horses to tigers and rats.

4. Will a distant treatment be enough for my pet’s ailment?

Usually, I can treat an animal by analyzing symptoms detailed in my conversation with the pet owner.  I often recommend a thorough local veterinary evaluation first in order to have a more complete understanding of the problem.  (For example, did the vomiting cat that is not eating swallow some tinsel–in which case he would require surgery rather than homeopathy?)  After such an evaluation, I can determine if I think I can help the animal with homeopathy.   I often successfully treat cases that have failed to respond to the standard treatment.

5. What ailments can homeopathy treat and what ailments should I go to an emergency animal hospital for?

For emergencies such as bleeding or minimal responsiveness, obviously, the pet owner should use the good judgment to go an emergency animal hospital. In acute cases, I recommend that I first do a conventional veterinary evaluation; for distant clients, I recommend they seek a local veterinary evaluation. Often homeopathy helps acute cases such as emotional shock, acute diarrhea, respiratory infections, etc.  In chronic cases, such as lameness, back or skin problems, homeopathy often succeeds where standard treatment fails.
